Day 1
Marrakech—Ait Ben Haddou—Quarzazate-Boumalne Dades
After a typical Moroccan breakfast at one of our favourite venues, we will head towards Ouarzazate known as the Door of the Desert. We will venture through the Atlas Mountains, where you will experience the stunning natural views, after which we will stop in Tizi n’Tichka for some amazing panoramic photo opportunities. We will visit one of the largest producers of world-famous Moroccan Argan Oil products to learn about the production process and the incredible health benefits of these oils.
After a traditional lunch, we will continue south and follow the 6km track to the village of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for its Kasbah (Islamic Fortress) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Several famous movies have been filmed here including Gladiator and The Jewel of the Nile. After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, we will head towards our hotel in Boumalne Dades where you can relax, have a traditional dinner, and take in your surroundings.
Day 2
Boumalne Dades—Todra Canyon—Sahara Desert
Following a leisurely breakfast, we will head up the mountains to experience the incredible Insta-worthy views of the canyons. We’ll continue through a path filled with beautiful scenery and unforgettable Kasbahs, each one unique from the last. After several stops to take in the scenery, we will arrive at one of the most iconic places in the south: the Todra Canyon. Cliff walls of epic proportions and immense beauty surround the channel of the river Todra making it a climber’s paradise! After lunch, we will head towards the Sahara Desert. There, we will have a break for tea to prepare for the adventure ahead. Taking with us only the necessities, we will take an unforgettable camel ride into the desert to reach our Berber camp. We’ll have the chance to catch the sunset over the dunes before heading to a traditional dinner within the camp. You can climb the dunes near the camp with a warm cup of tea and enjoy the peace and quiet of the desert, relaxing after an adventure-filled day. Finally, we’ll spend the night in typical Berber tents underneath a spectacular canopy of stars, enjoying a typical Berber party.
Day 3
Sahara Desert-Fez
After an unforgettable night in the desert and a hearty breakfast, our day will be filled with exploration through several quaint and beautiful towns in Morocco. First, we will go through Erfoud, which is rich in fossils and history and pass the Ziz Valley to take in the sights of the palm trees and canyons surrounding us. Once past the port of Tizi-n Talghomt, we will stop in Midelt for lunch. Continuing our journey, we’ll venture through the Cedar Forest and stop to see the Moroccan monkeys in their natural habitat. Next, we will go through Ifrane – often referred to as the Moroccan Switzerland – and arrive in Fez, Morocco’s cultural capital. Here you will settle into your hotel accommodation and enjoy dinner (included in the tour).
Day 4
Fez-Chefchaouen
After breakfast at your hotel, we will explore one of the oldest imperial cities. Founded in 808, Fez is one of the first political, religious, and cultural capitals in the world and is truly incredible. We will begin the official tour at the Golden Doors of the spectacular Royal Palace. Next, we will take a wander around the grounds and venture inside the historical Medina, allowing the beautiful architecture and surrounding sites to transport us back over 1,000 years. In Fez, you will get to experience everything: mosques, madrassas, karabansarais and several other cultural sites. Once the tour is over, we will head to Chaouen, the famous ‘hippie’ fully painted, blue city.
Day 5
Chefchaouen-Rabat-Casablanca
After a filling breakfast. Free time in Chaouen – after the tour we have free time to explore the blue city by day and enjoy some shopping for traditional, local goods. We will then head to Rabat, Morocco’s political and administrative capital. Although it has fewer tourist attractions, it compensates for this with plenty of charm. If you would prefer, you can stay longer in Chefchaouen and head directly to Casablanca.
Day 6
Casablanca-Marrakech
Casablanca is the Morocco’s largest city and busiest port with a population of over 3.5 million. For many, the name Casablanca evokes the romance of the 1945 film starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart; but the reality of the city is a little different. Although its older neighbourhoods boast their fair share of picturesque French colonial and traditional Moroccan architecture, Casablanca’s modern identity is all about progress and development. It’s not as atmospheric as the imperial cities of Marrakech, Fez, Meknes, and Rabat; but it is a thriving business centre full of cosmopolitan arts venues, restaurants, and nightclubs.
After breakfast, we will have a chance to see one of the biggest mosques in the world; Hassan II Mosque. After our arrival in Marrakesh, we will have time to explore this city and enjoy the last night of the trip. We highly recommend a Morocco massage after a long journey!
